Pioneering Perspective: Bridging the Divide - The Waukesha Water Story with Dr. Joseph Piatt
Do you know where your water comes from? Does the element “radium” mean anything to you? Tune in with Dr. Joe Piatt, Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science, for an evaluation of how Waukesha’s municipal water supply journey serves as a case study in global water resource management and policy. Waukesha will lay its first pipes in the ground Fall 2020. Leading to this step, Waukesha has worked 23 years to develop the current iteration of the Great Lakes Compact, 10 years to identify a regional water supply study, 6 years to process the application for a Lake Michigan diversion, and 4 years of planning for a $280 million water supply/return system.
