JUNE 2021

Bob Hunter

Bob Hunter '78 discovered a talent for event planning during a school dance

Bob Hunter ‘78 sat at the close of a Sunday night College Activities Board (CAB) meeting in the fall of his sophomore year when members learned that the person usually in charge of the campus Schlag (a long-ago, beer-soaked dance party) would be out of town. The dance – already scheduled for the following Saturday – needed an organizer, someone who could pull it off in just six days.

The team chose Bob.

That moment helped to define the years that would follow as Hunter — owner and operator of Hunter Events in San Francisco — developed a now 28-year career in event and meeting planning. While 2020 put his event planning on hold, his creative spirit never stopped moving and he's eager to get back to business as the world opens again.

Within two years, she had spearheaded discussions that resulted in the creation of a master’s in behavioral health psychology program now launching in the fall of 2021 with its first co-hort of students.

Commencement keynote speaker shares message of forgiveness with graduates

Nearly 10 years later, Kaleka stood before Carroll's Class of 2021 as the Commencement keynote speaker, encouraging them to think about courage as they take on the next transition in their lives. With that courage, he said, will come growth in learning how to forgive.
